I ended up with around half of the swag as last year. No epic Hoodies or Rings of Power this time. If I have some time over the next while I will see if I can post some pictures.

As you would expect, we had a great time at PAX this year.
I was a little disappointed that some of the bigger companies like Intel and NVidia failed to show up with their own booths, but that’s mostly because they offered some of the best giveaways last year.
There were still a bunch of great game launches and demos including Uncharted 3 and Mass Effect 3 (both games I am very excited to play).
I guess over all it seemed bigger yet smaller at the same time. Bigger in that a lot of the lines were just crazy. I ended up playing the Mass Effect 3 demo at the Xbox 360 booth because the Bioware lines were always 2 to 3 hours long. Smaller because there seemed to be fewer big game launches than last year.
Either way, it was still a blast and I can’t wait until PAX 2012 rolls around. 😀

My phone synchronized with the MyPhone service for the last time a few days ago. It still keeps trying, but now I get the following error…..
What a shame. Over the last 4 weeks I had been switching between 3 Windows Mobile phones and I never had to worry about having my contacts, text messages, pictures and documents synchronized. It was all done automatically.
I can still log on to the MyPhone web page and download all of the files manually (until October 6th), but obviously that’s not the same.
I realize Windows Mobile was killed off last October when Windows Phone was released, but up until now it didn’t seem real. Oh, how times change.
We had a good run Windows Mobile/Pocket PC, I will always remember the good times.

Holy crap, I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my last post!
I guess it is summer and all but that’s no excuse. Anyway, I have a lot of stuff I want to post in the next little while so hopefully that will make up for it. 😀

I guess I missed this last week, but it seems that in six short weeks, the Penny Arcade Expo 2011 has completely sold all of the available single and three day passes.
That’s pretty crazy, I don’t remember them selling that quickly last year. I would suggest they find a bigger venue, but then I think about how crazy the place would be if it was any bigger.
No, I’m glad they limit the amount of passes they sell. You know what they say, “you snooze, you loose”. 😀

I was just sent notice that starting tomorrow you will now be able to earn scene points on concession purchases. More specifically, combo purchases.
For example, a standard popcorn, drink and candy combo will net you 100 points (same as an admission).
Interestingly, it was only a month ago that I was bitching about getting ripped off of scene points on admission purchases. Maybe someone over there is actually listening? Ya, probably not.
Either way, I guess this almost makes up for it. 😉
You can see the the notice here…

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Pappa, say it ain’t so!!!
Microsoft just sent out an e-mail notice that they will soon be shutting down the Windows Mobile Marketplace (not a big deal) and more importantly the MyPhone service.
DAMMIT!! I can’t believe it. No wait, I can. Microsoft, you screwed us when you dropped Windows Mobile and now you want to kill one of the last good things going for it. 😡
[You can view the entire e-mail after the jump.]

I was just informed by the GoG.com team that they now have a bunch of new games available from Electronic Arts. Three games are available for purchase today with more coming soon. Included in these three are Dungeon Keeper, Ultima Underworld (1+2) and Wing Commander: Privateer.
Wing Commander: Privateer!!!!!
Man did I love that game. I was never much for space sims (other than Star Wars: Tie Fighter, and who didn’t love that game!!!), but I really enjoyed Privateer.
If I remember correctly, I originally picked up my copy in a discount bin at the back of my local Office Depot for $10. Searching discount bins for cool games we never heard of was a favourite past time for me and my buddy. This was a few years before the Internet took off, so it’s not like you could bring up MetaCritic on your smart phone and figure out if a game is any good before you buy it.
