Thanks folks. According to Jetpack, my site officially passed 10 000 unique views a few days ago.
Woo hoo!!! 😀

I like to see movies in theatres, but I’m also a cheapskate. That means, to me, paying $12 to see a movie at a fancy new theatre doesn’t really appeal to me (some movies are an exception). Instead I go to my local, family owned theatre and pay $6 instead ($4 on Tuesdays).
When I do go to the “big” theater, I try to make up for the high cost by collecting Scene Points. I’m not sure what the equivalent would be in the U.S. but in Canada, Cineplex theaters (the largest theater chain) have a points program. Basically, you get 100 points per ticket and 1000 points gets you a free movie.
1 free movie for every 10 tickets is actually pretty good (you also get 10% off at the concession stand). Where’s the rip off you ask?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for freedom from censorship, but there is just something wrong with your 9 year old daughter and her friend belting out the lyrics to Rihanna’s S&M from the back seat.
In particular, this part of the chorus….
There’s sex in the air, I don’t care, I love the smell of it
Sticks and stones may break my bones
But chains and whips excite me
Just wrong……so very very wrong. 😯

If you were hoping to get 3 day passes for this years PAX Prime before they sold out and haven’t gotten around to it yet, well, I’m sorry to say but you are too late.
It was announced on Friday that they have officially sold out and that only single day passes are available.
The single day passes still offer an excellent value and I’m sure the Saturday and Friday passes will sell out soon enough.
If you intend to go this year, I suggest you buy passes before it is too late!!!!

Wow, where does the time go. I can’t believe it’s been three weeks since my last post.
I guess I have to blame my phone. For the past few weeks I’ve spent most of my free time working on a new custom ROM. If you happen to have a LG Monaco device (eXpo, IQ or GW825V) you may want to check it out over on XDA Developers….

Hopefully I will have a final version up in the next week or so and I can get back to everything else I have on the go.

My family loves to play Mario Party 8 on the Wii (especially my wife). I guess the series has been a fan favourite for a long time, but Mario Party 8 was our first exposure to the series (apparently it’s far from the best of the series according to reviews).
After many hours of fun, our copy ended up getting wrecked after we loaned it to an acquaintance. Yes, sad indeed. It’s in my Goozex queue, but it’s pretty popular and doesn’t get traded a whole lot. I suppose I could buy another copy but it still costs $50 and I have over 8000 points on Goozex that I would like to use instead.
Anyway, when Wii Party was released, we were able to use a Best Buy promotion to trade two of our existing games for a copy. From all appearances, it seemed that Wii Party was to be the successor to the Mario Party series (using annoying Mii’s instead of lovable Mario characters).

It’s not often that I have to take the bus, but yesterday afternoon while my trusty Yaris was getting a check-up, I decided to take the bus down to have lunch with my wife.
The bus fare where I live is $2.50 and as luck would have it, I had a $5 bill on me (I generally don’t have cash in this increasingly cashless world). Further to this lucky streak, I was directly in front of a bank when I made this decision and it seemed like a perfect place to get change. You know, since it’s a bank and all.

This is just a small reminder that all of those free Cineplex movie passes that didn’t get used up in February are now good for a free 2 for 1.
I suppose you could have used them in March for a free small popcorn, but that would have been a waste.
April is not exactly the best month for movies, but it’s not all bad. If you haven’t already seen The Adjustment Bureau, Battle: LA, Limitless, The Lincoln Lawyer, Paul or Sucker Punch, they should all still be in theatres.
Coming up in April we have Source Code (today), Your Highness (April 8th), Scream 4 (April 15th) & Fast Five (April 22nd). Ya, OK that’s a pretty weak line up. Oh well, might as well use them up now. Next month the passes are only good for a free small drink. 😉
