The Disney Movie Rewards program really isn’t that much different, as in, it’s pretty sucky.<\/p>\n

Basically, when you buy Disney stuff at retail (CD, DVDs and Blu-Rays), they include a coupon code inside.\u00a0 You take that code and enter it on the Disney Movie Rewards site to collect points.\u00a0 CDs get you around 50, DVDs – 100 and Blu-Rays between 125 to 200 points.<\/p>\n

Once you have enough points, you redeem them for useless garbage like stickers and posters.\u00a0 If you happen to collect a whole bunch of points (900+), you can even redeem them for Blu-Rays (although the selection is really, really bad).<\/p>\n

It’s also possible to get bonus points for doing questionnaires and from periodic bonus codes (for example, the code “cool” will get you 50 points right now).<\/p>\n

Anyway, despite the program’s suckyness, you may want to sign up anyway.<\/p>\n

That’s because periodically you get hooked up with FREE movies.<\/p>\n

In my case, I was offered a free movie on my first birthday after signing up (Enchanted on Blu-Ray + $2.95 S&H) and I was just sent another offer for a free movie as a 1 year anniversary bonus (I signed up a little over a year ago).\u00a0 I have the choice of Eight Below<\/em>, The Rookie<\/em> and Chicken Little<\/em>, all on Blu-Ray.\u00a0 I have to pay $4.99 S&H this time, which is getting a little on the high side.<\/p>\n

Considering, they are offering me a free movie, just for being a member, it’s a pretty good deal.<\/p>\n

I don’t know if they are still offering free movies on your birthday, or if they will be offering a free movie a year from now as an anniversary bonus, but it probably wouldn’t hurt to sign up and find out.<\/p>\n
