That is unless you pay for US VPN access or use DNS re-direction\/unblocking<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I’m not going to discuss using a VPN. \u00a0They are generally expensive and slow.<\/p>\n

I am going to discuss using DNS re-direction though, because that’s what I have been using to watch Veronica Mars for the past week.<\/p>\n

See, if you live in the US, you can watch Veronica Mars for free on theWB.com<\/a>. \u00a0You still need to sit through the occasional ad for Two and a Half Men<\/a> or Gossip Girl<\/a>, but at least there are no subscription costs or per episode fees.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, if you live in Canada, you get a friendly notice that…<\/p>\n

“The WB can only be viewed in the United States.”<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Isn’t that just lovely.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0briefly\u00a0discussed using DNS re-direction to access Netflix USA<\/a>\u00a0a little over a year ago. \u00a0Since then I’ve been using the service offered by UnoTelly<\/a> and it’s been awesome. \u00a0I mainly use it to access Neflix USA. \u00a0My wife uses it to access US versions of the Food Network and TV.com.<\/p>\n

After all of this business with the Veronica Mars Kickstarter<\/a>, it reminded us that we have wanted to watch the show for some time. \u00a0It only took a minute to realize it wasn’t available on Netflix Canada or Netflix USA. \u00a0A quick search pointed us to theWB.com, where you can stream all 3 seasons for FREE. \u00a0Since I already had UnoTelly<\/a> configured, it just worked without any fuss. \u00a0I didn’t even realize it wasn’t available to Canadians, until I tried it using a different computer. \u00a0Which once again reminded me how useful the service is.<\/p>\n

You get a free 8 day trial when you sign up. \u00a0If you’re hardcore, you could possibly watch all 3 seasons in those 8 days. \u00a0Otherwise it’s $5 per month.<\/p>\n

To me it’s like paying $8 per month for Netflix Canada plus another $5 for Netflix USA. \u00a0Being able to access another few dozen US sites is just a bonus.<\/p>\n
