{"id":1419,"date":"2011-09-28T14:19:28","date_gmt":"2011-09-28T21:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/?p=1419"},"modified":"2011-09-28T14:20:17","modified_gmt":"2011-09-28T21:20:17","slug":"windows-7-wei-lower-after-g620-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/?p=1419","title":{"rendered":"Windows 7 WEI Lower After G620 Upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1424\" title=\"Windows Experience Index 6.5\" src=\"http:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/WEI_6.5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"139\" height=\"158\" \/>I tell you, Newegg knows how to get you to spend money.\u00a0 Back in August I bought a small laptop from them (~$300).\u00a0 As a thank you, they sent me a $20 coupon code (when you spend $40).<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking of getting a SSD hard drive but was torn due to concerns that my old motherboard would hamper performance (it doesn&#8217;t support AHCI).\u00a0 In the end, I ended up spending almost $500 upgrading my computer to a Sandy Bridge setup.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude2f<\/p>\n<p>(Though I should be able to make most of that back by selling off my old components.)<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I was a little disappointed that my Windows Experience Index &#8211; Processor rating dropped.\u00a0 I was previously running an Intel E5300 on an Asus P5K at 3.46GHz with stock voltage.\u00a0 I now have an Intel G620 running on an Asus P8Z68-V.\u00a0 The G620 is not overclockable, so I am stuck at the stock 2.6GHz.<\/p>\n<p>At 3.46GHz, my E5300 gave me a WEI Processor rating of 6.7.\u00a0 I now have 6.5 with the G620.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>Mind you, I no longer need to overclock my CPU to achieve the same performance (not that I have a problem with that).\u00a0 On the plus side, my Memory rating went from 6.7 with 4GB DDR2-1066 to 7.7 with 8GB of DDR3-1600.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ComputerAbuser<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I tell you, Newegg knows how to get you to spend money.
