{"id":1188,"date":"2011-04-01T09:13:39","date_gmt":"2011-04-01T16:13:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/?p=1188"},"modified":"2011-04-01T09:17:45","modified_gmt":"2011-04-01T16:17:45","slug":"random-bank-refuses-to-make-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/?p=1188","title":{"rendered":"Random: Bank Refuses to Make Change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1190\" title=\"Coins\" src=\"http:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/CanadianCoins-300x212.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/CanadianCoins-300x212.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/CanadianCoins-1024x723.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.computerabuser.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/CanadianCoins.jpg 1800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/>It&#8217;s not often that I have to take the bus, but yesterday afternoon while my trusty Yaris was getting a check-up, I decided to take the bus down to have lunch with my wife.<\/p>\n<p>The bus fare where I live is $2.50 and as luck would have it, I had a $5 bill on me (I generally don&#8217;t have cash in this increasingly cashless world).\u00a0 Further to this lucky streak, I was directly in front of a bank when I made this decision and it seemed like a perfect place to get change.\u00a0 You know, since it&#8217;s a bank and all.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I casually sauntered in and walked straight up to a cashier since the bank happened to be empty at the time.\u00a0 I then politely asked if they could break the $5 bill for me.<\/p>\n<p>At first the cashier looked at me with a very confused expression.\u00a0 To her credit, I think she was new.\u00a0 She took the money and froze there for a second.\u00a0 Then she looked to the cashier to her left for some guidance.\u00a0 It was then that the other cashier whispered to her &#8220;Ask him if he is a client&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>She asked me nicely, &#8220;Sir, are you a client at this bank?&#8221;.\u00a0 I said &#8220;no&#8221; and then she looked back at her co-worker who shook her head from side to side.\u00a0 She then told me &#8220;Sorry sir, I&#8217;m not able to do that for you&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>WTF!!!!\u00a0 I asked her nicely, &#8220;so, since I&#8217;m not a client, you won&#8217;t break this $5 bill for me?&#8221;.\u00a0 Again she said &#8220;no&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>What total bullshit.\u00a0 Since when do you need to be a client of a particular bank before they will make change?\u00a0 I guess it has been a while since I have stepped into a bank as I do everything electronically, but when did this evil no-making-change r\u00e9gime take over?\u00a0 I can understand not cashing some strangers cheque or something that somehow puts the bank at risk.\u00a0 Was there some recent flood of counterfeit $5 bills in the market that I never heard about?\u00a0 Well, if there is, the Quiznos down the block hasn&#8217;t heard about it since they had no problem giving me change.<\/p>\n<p>I guess that&#8217;s what you call bad customer service.<\/p>\n<p>ComputerAbuser<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s not often that I have to take the bus, but yesterday afternoon while my trusty Yaris was getting a check-up, I decided to take the bus down to have lunch with my wife.<\/p>\n<p>The bus fare where I live is $2.50 and as luck would have it, I had a $5 bill on me (I generally don&#8217;t have cash in this increasingly cashless world).
