Wii Party = Wii CRAP!!!

My family loves to play Mario Party 8 on the Wii (especially my wife).  I guess the series has been a fan favourite for a long time, but Mario Party 8 was our first exposure to the series (apparently it’s far from the best of the series according to reviews).

After many hours of fun, our copy ended up getting wrecked after we loaned it to an acquaintance.  Yes, sad indeed.  It’s in my Goozex queue, but it’s pretty popular and doesn’t get traded a whole lot.  I suppose I could buy another copy but it still costs $50 and I have over 8000 points on Goozex that I would like to use instead.

Anyway, when Wii Party was released, we were able to use a Best Buy promotion to trade two of our existing games for a copy.  From all appearances, it seemed that Wii Party was to be the successor to the Mario Party series (using annoying Mii’s instead of lovable Mario characters).

At first everything seemed OK.  The structure was similar to Mario Party and the mini games added some new twists.  Sadly, it didn’t take long to realize that this was no Mario Party game and in actuality, it really sucked.

Seriously, the board game is incredibly boring.  I don’t think the creators really put much thought into it or at least they don’t understand what it was that makes Mario Party fun.

Some of the mini-games are good.  We enjoyed the boat balancing game (pictured at the bottom left on the game cover).  Actually, it seems like they just focused on the mini-games and put together the board game as an after thought.

Sadly, from what I can tell, there are no plans to release Mario Party 9 or any other Mario Party game.  All we have is the crapfest known as Wii Party.

Luckily, no one told EB Games that this game totally blows because they offered me $25 for my copy.  I suppose I could put it up on Goozex, but no one should be subjected to this crap.  😡
